In this, the most wonderful time of the year, where peace and good will toward men are supposed to be omnipresent themes, an ugly alliance between race-phobia and Jesus-phobia are threatening to fundamentally transform this most cherished season into a celebration of hatred, bigotry, and mean-spirited pettiness.
As reported at the reference, an Albuquerque teacher is the latest victim of the anti-Christmas pandemic plowing through otherwise respectable communities:
A suburban Albuquerque teacher who told a black student that Santa Claus is white has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Rio Rancho school district spokeswoman Kim Vesely confirmed on Tuesday that the teacher is out of the classroom while the incident is being investigated.
The teacher’s comments came after students at Cleveland High School were told they could come to class dressed as Santa, an elf or a reindeer.
Michael Rougier says when his ninth-grade son, Christopher, arrived with a Santa hat and beard, the teacher asked, “Don’t you know Santa Claus is white? Why are you wearing that?”
While the teacher involved was, at best, insensitive and terse, it hardly seems appropriate in this most wonderful time of the year, to keep he or she out of the classroom, in an where era quality education is at a premium.
To spokeswoman Vesely, just how are the students, including the black Christopher, served by disrupting the learning process just to pacify mean-spirited political correctness? Where is the lesson plan for tolerance and inclusiveness?
Why not negotiate issuance of an appropriate apology to soothe the ruffled feathers, rather than making a silly remark into a national scandal?
As for Michael Rougier, father of Christopher, here’s hoping that Santa fills your stocking– with chunks of white coal!
